Dell charges customers for a one-year warranty but tells them, falsely, that the warranty is included in the purchase price, a class action claims in Wayne County Court.

Named plaintiff Barry Adler claims Dell sells its computers with a standard, written one-year warranty. He claims that Dell charges for this warranty without disclosing it, but tells customers "that this service came standard with the computer purchase for the first year for no additional consideration." He says Dell does not disclose to its customers that they have the option not to buy the warranty with the computers. He believes the cost of the warrant is less than $100.

He seeks an injunction and damages. He is represented by Richard Segal of West Bloomfield.
